The Front Porch Project

I have written a lot about our fabulous local Project Unify high school club and particularly their president, Brooke, on this blog. Brooke is truly one of the most exceptional young people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I couldn’t mean it more when I say I can’t wait to see what she goes on to do as an adult.

Brooke has built a wonderful Project Unify club and has helped make inclusion and reaching out to touch the lives of those with disabilities the ‘cool’ thing to do in high school. Her work throughout the year is truly impressive and has been a pleasure to watch. During this pandemic she has absolutely taken it to another level. Between assisting with the LOWCO Strong shirt project and setting up pen pals for our Rays, Brooke, who is also an amazing amateur photographer, took it upon herself to offer The Front Porch Project locally, and decided to donate all of her proceeds to Pockets.

The Front Porch Project was a national initiative by photographers to photograph families at home on their front steps, from a safe distance. Rather than charge a sitting fee or for photos, families were asked to donate to a charity of theirs or the photographers choosing.

Brooke took so many beautiful photos of local families, and we could not have been more honored to be the recipients of her efforts.

Thank you Brooke! Remarkable is not a strong enough word to describe you!
