A Unified Halloween!
Halloween is always a special time at Pockets Full of Sunshine. For the past several years we have had a Halloween Party to honor Hope, a friend who loved the holiday and passed away a few years ago. Hope’s mother always dresses up and brings goodies to the Rays along with a book of Hope’s special poetry, lots of which was Halloween themed. We always love remembering her and celebrating her life and favorite holiday.
This year our local highschool Project Unify group asked if they could throw a Halloween Bash for our Rays. We said absolutely! And couldn’t wait for all the fun to come, especially to share Hope’s story with all of the students.
The high schoolers worked hard to plan an amazing Halloween party! We kicked off the event with some of Hope’s poems which got everyone in the spirit.
Next up was a donut eating contest. Groups chose someone to eat and their friends held donuts on a string for them to finish. This was so fun and FUNNY to watch. Everyone was laughing but somehow most still managed to finish their donuts!
Next up was a mummy competition! Everyone used toilet paper to see who could wrap their friends up like a mummy the fastest! Another fun and very funny game!
After everyone was mummified it was time to play Halloween bingo, have a candy corn guessing game, bob for apples and last but not least decorate Halloween cookies!
We ended the party with a few group photos and some spooky music to dance to. It was a fantastic day and Project Unify could not have put on a more fun and inclusive party. They went all out for their costumes, had perfectly planned activities and jumped right in getting to know and having fun with the Rays.
The perfect party that embodies the heart of what Pockets Full of Sunshine is all about <3 Thank you Project Unify and Happy Halloween!
