Thrift Store Flip & Recycled Art!
Partnering with other worthy organizations within our community is an important part of what we do. We want our Rays to be involved and included in all aspects of our community, including giving back.
We had two exciting projects projects this November that kept our Rays very busy. With the direction of one of our wonderful volunteers Merianne and our Friday Night Coordinator Danielle, the Rays created entries for the Hospice Care of the Lowcountry’s Thrift Store Flip and The Port Royal Sound Foundation’s Recycled Art Contest.
The Hospice Thrift Store Flip involved finding a piece of furniture at a thrift store and upcycling it into a brand new piece. The pieces would then be auctioned off to raise money for Hospice Care of The Lowcountry. We thought this was such a fun idea and when our wonderfully creative friend Merianne had the vision of turning old dining room chairs into a fun garden bench we were all in!
The Rays, Merianne and our talented woodworking friend Chad worked hard and created a beautiful piece with signature sunshine flair! We were so proud of their bright efforts and Hospice was very appreciative!
You may remember that last year PFS won an honorable mention in the PRSF’s first contest! We were excited to participate again and Danielle came up with a wonderful and colorful design that the Rays had a blast building!
Two fun projects to kick off an exciting month!
