Meeting New Friends and Cherishing the Old
Last week was a bustling and wonderful week at PFS! We participated in a Market, did lots of vocational work and got two special surprises.
The first was a bit of a sad surprise as we said goodbye to one of our volunteers/Best Buddies as she graduates from college. Alli came to PFS through the Best Buddies program and her buddy Sally. Alli is a natural with the special needs population and she quickly fell in love with all of the Rays and began volunteering regularly. We absolutely adored her and were so sad to say goodbye.
The Rays surprised Alli with a goodbye lunch and some special gifts to remember them by. We will miss you Alli and we know this is really only a “see you later”!
The second surprise was another very special lunch from our dear friend Tom! Tom lives in New Jersey but watched the CBS segment about the Rays baking cookies with Jim Furyk a few years ago during The RBC Heritage golf tournament. Tom reached out to PFS after watching the clip and has stayed in touch ever since! He supports our program every chance he gets and loves purchasing special gifts from the Rays for his family and friends! Every message and email we get from Tom is full of love and support and makes our day!
Tom was vacationing on HHI with his family last week and we all couldn’t wait to finally meet! He brought his entire family to our vocational training and got to meet the Rays and see them in action. Then he surprised them with lunch!
Such a special connection and friendship that we forever cherish!
What a great week, and so much more fun to come this month!
