Lantern Parade in Place!
Last year we participated in the first ever Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade and it was absolutely incredible! Groups worked on creating lanterns for months before the event and then the day of our community came together in a brilliant display of light and marched together down the beach. It was truly breathtaking to behold and so special to be a part of!
Obviously the pandemic put a wrench in the plans for the second annual parade but HHI Culture came up with a creative solution…lanterns would be made in the safety of homes and the parade became a “parade in place,” a drive through event for cars with people spaced safely apart! Brilliant!
We were thrilled to be asked to participate and our adults made 15 very creative lanterns!
The day of the parade in place we set up our NEW sunshine tent, masked up and danced to the music while proudly waving our creations!
It was such a fun evening and the adults had a blast! All the honking and waving from cars was an instant mood booster and I heard more than one yell that our Rays and their lanterns were the very best part <3
