Shining While Serving Others
We are very grateful to have the support of several local churches in various ways. First Presbyterian Church has been a friend to Pockets from our earliest days when they provided one of our first meeting spaces so that we could grow! Since then Pockets has been taken on as a Local Outreach Mission of FPC and they have continued to help us provide a litany of opportunities for the Rays. One of our favorite ways to partner with FPC is in service of others.
Recently we have teamed up with FPC on two wonderful projects! First, they helped us stuff eggs for the Island Recreation Center’s annual egg hunt. Yes…it’s August, but 20,000 eggs requires year round work!
Next up, another out of season, but incredible project, stuffing shoeboxes!
These boxes are jam packed with toys, toiletries, art and school supplies, etc. and sent overseas to children of all ages in need. The Rays LOVE working on this annual project, and they especially love making the boxes extra special with sticker decorations all over the lid.
Each year the Rays work hard to try and top their previous number of boxes…so far they are setting new records each time!
Working with volunteers from the church is hands down one of the best part! The Rays love seeing some of the same kind faces from year to year.
And of course no time at FPC is complete without the grand finale…music from our beloved Mr. Dave!!
Thank you FPC for spreading the sun and continuously thinking of and including the Rays! We are grateful for your support and friendship!
