HHI Lantern Festival

One of our favorite recent traditions has quickly become the Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade. When it first debuted in 2019 we weren’t quite sure what to expect but were excited to have the Rays participate in a community wide art focused event.

Jenn McEwen from HH Arts and Culture visited PFS and hosted a workshop for the Rays to make their lanterns. She became a fast friend to Pockets and we had a great time creating our art works.

The day of, as we made our way to the beach for the mile long parade, we were absolutely blown away by the amount of participants, the masterpieces that people had created and the beauty of the community coming together to light up the night along the shore.

It was truly a one of a kind event and we knew we would be participating annually!

2020 brought the pandemic and with it, the parade shifted a bit and became a Lantern Parade in Place. It was a different experience but still great fun for the Rays as we sang and danced with our lights under our tent as attendees drove by.

2021 offered a dual experience, the Rays were thrilled to see Jenn again for the lantern making workshop. With the help of some wonderful volunteers the Rays created their best lanterns yet!

We were given the opportunity to participate in the drive by portion of the parade and again had an amazing time sending the attendees off with a little sunshine!

We cant wait for 2022!!
