Equine Therapy - An Exciting New Program
We are all about diverse opportunities at PFS and we love when a new and exciting one comes our way all on its own!
A few months ago I received a call from Tom Richardson at Moss Creek Stables asking if we had any Rays who may be interested in Equine Therapy.
I could hear the excitement in Tom’s voice as he shared with me that starting an equine therapy program had long been a personal dream of his and he was finally in a position to do so. We loved his passion and were so honored that he thought of Pockets Full of Sunshine to help find his first group of riders.
We had previously taken a large group of adults on a fabulous outing to Moss Creek to picnic with and pet the horses, but actually riding them wasn’t on our radar just yet. But we never shy away from an opportunity and the Rays are always game to try something new!
We decided to start small and chose 3 Rays to pilot the program. We knew after the first session that this was going to be something special and Tom quickly decided that they were ready for a 4th rider.
Our Rays absolutely love riding and to hear Tom talk about how proud they are and the confidence and skill they have already gained is remarkable. We can’t wait to see this program grow and we are so grateful to the Moss Creek team and all of the wonderful volunteers who make this opportunity possible!
